Primary Responsibility:
Ownership of the Logistics function on worldwide basis. Responsible for managing the company's freight and logistics budgets with the objective of reducing both costs and transit times. Develops comprehensive vision as well as strategies to support. Executes against the strategies. Develops new partnerships with freight forwarders, agents, carriers, 3PLs, etc. for all worldwide locations. Negotiates new rates, terms and conditions on how MEMC freight is handled across all lanes.
Job Scope:
- Develops, implements, communicates and manages the company's logistic strategies
- Develops, implements and communicates programs related to freight vendor negotiations for price and warehouse services
- Responsible for developing and implementing logistic goals and objectives on a worldwide basis, including site productivity goals
- Promotes consistent approach to moving freight on a worldwide basis in order to achieve aggressive goals in the area of lowest cost and best service
Interpersonal Skill:
- Must be able to develop a strong working relationship with freight suppliers and individual site shipping departments.
- Must use a positive approach to manage cost reduction program while maintaining a high and predictable level of service on a worldwide basis
- Must be the owner of the Logistics systems and organization world-wide
- Work effectively with all locations and diverse cultures
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work effectively cross-functionally
Job-related Experience:
- 10+ years in Logistic (semiconductor or related industry experience is desirable)
- 5+ years as a manager
- Multi facility and global responsibility for Logistic function in a fast-paced environment with heavy emphasis on air freight
- Experience in domestic and international environments as well as import/export compliance
- Experience in strategic planning and implementation
Knowledge:
- Must have knowledge in all aspects of Logistics systems and engineering
- Must has knowledge of leading edge Logistic practices
Education/Experience:
- Must have a minimum BS or equivalent work related experience.
Communication:
- Must have good written, verbal and presentation communication skills
- Must be able to read and interpret basic accounting
Physical Requirements:
- 5% - 10% travel required (domestic and international)
