The MEMC Japan Ltd. (MJL) headquarters and manufacturing facility is in Utsunomiya, Japan. The company also has a sales office in Tokyo, Japan. MJL is a unique combination of manufacturing and applications support dedicated solely to the highly competitive Japanese and Asian Markets. In addition, the Utsunomiya plant provides state-of-the-art 300mm polished and epitaxial silicon wafers for many of the world’s top device manufacturers.

Background
The Utsunomiya plant was built in 1986 by MEMC (formerly Monsanto Electronic Materials Company) as a technology window to an advanced Japanese Market. In 1998, the 300mm Center of Excellence (COE) was added under the R&D organization, which was integrated into the manufacturing organization in 2002.
