1000 V SilvantisTM Modules ... empowering our customers with possibilities

MEMC SilvantisTM solar modules first to achieve 1000 V certification,
listed by csa for ul 1703

MEMC achieved a new quality and safety benchmark by being the first US Company to achieve 1000 V rating tested to UL 1703 standard by CSA with Silvantis Multi-crystalline P290 PV modules. This groundbreaking certification enables larger number of modules to be connected in series strings up to 1000 V instead of limiting to conventional 600 V in North America.

1000 V UL rating means:

  • More modules can be wired together in each string to an inverter
  • Fewer inverters, reducing the probability of failure thus increasing total system reliability
  • More efficient inverters lead to significant cost savings
  • By decreasing the number of combiner boxes and wiring homeruns, large scale installations can reduce their BOS cost up to 20%

How does 1000 V UL rating reduce BOS cost?

Mandated by certification bodies, most electrical equipment is designed around 600 V standards.

Unlike these, utility-scale systems are designed to transmit power in excess of 15kV. With PV tied utility grid systems, if the equipment, such as solar PV Modules, provides 1000 V certification instead 600 V, more modules can be wired together in each string to an inverter. This allows the use of fewer inverters, resulting in wider flexibility of string size and cost reduction from fewer combiner boxes, wiring homeruns and other overheads associated with grid design.

In other words, 1000 V UL listed by CSA provides a two-fold solution – improved Quality & Safety while reducing O&M and BOS cost.

MEMC THUS helps create superior value for our customers while reducing their BOS and LCOE costs.
