Sales Department and Shipping Department Managers

MEMC provides these shipping instructions to your company to follow on all shipments to the MEMC site named below. Failure to follow these instructions may result in delayed payment of your invoice and non-payment of freight charges added to your invoice. If your product price does not include freight, MEMC requires your shipment “freight collect” unless otherwise approved by the MEMC Buyer.

Instructions to Supplier:

  • Supplier must provide MEMC Southwest purchase order number on their Bill of Lading and all shipment documents (airbill, etc). Supplier must provide carrier with a completed bill of lading providing sizes and weights of items being shipped.

  • If Supplier product price does not include freight, then Supplier MUST SHIP “FREIGHT COLLECT” Supplier must ship using above MEMC Southwest Core Carriers with freight billed to:

  • For shipments using United Parcel Service (UPS), supplier must ship “Freight Collect” or use “Consignee billing” If using Consignee Billing the Supplier must obtain the consignee billing package from their local UPS representative to use this service. Otherwise supplier must ship UPS Collect using the MEMC Southwest UPS account # provided on the purchase order. UPS can be used on shipments with total weight up to 150 lbs and with individual cartons within the UPS guidelines. Some MEMC Southwest carriers REQUIRE the Supplier to provide MEMC Southwest’s account number for a collect shipment. MEMC Southwest account numbers are provided on the purchase order for Airborne, Emery Worldwide and UPS.

  • Hazardous material shipments that cannot move on normal LTL carriers should be routed using the supplier’s preferred carrier or the supplier’s own vehicles. These shipments should be shipped freight collect unless the price of material already includes the delivery , using the supplier’s discounted rates when possible. Shipments that move on LTL carriers must use Central Freight Lines or Yellow Freight.

  • MEMC currently uses both Contract Freighters Inc. and Freightways Inc. as primary truckload carriers. Contact these carriers at least 5 days in advance to setup pickup. If there are problems using these carriers, contact MEMC Southwest Purchasing department 903-8915060 for assistance or direction. At that time, MEMC SW Purchasing , MEMC Corporate Logistics and the Supplier will work together to setup the optimal truckload carrier.
